About

Lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.

Playfulness and curiosity are the fundamental driving forces that lie at the heart of Mark Bohle’s artistic practice. A multifaceted artist, his trajectory spans from graffiti to graphic design, shaping a personal visual language that blends pop-culture icons, typography, and everyday iconography to create unexpected compositions that unsettle and surprise the viewer. His work moves within a deliberate balance between chaos and control. Drawing in his sketchbooks occupies a central place in his creative process: it is there that Bohle thinks through doing, experimenting and navigating the formal and conceptual possibilities of each project. From these apparently spontaneous sketches, the artist develops works that far from trivial embrace intuition, the immediacy of gesture, and the power of the accidental as the foundation of a practice that is both deeply conscious and committed.

Mark Bohle completed his studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart before moving to Barcelona, where he is currently based. He is a lecturer in Visual Experimentation in the Beyond Branding master’s program at Elisava University and regularly gives lectures and workshops. Together with Nam Huynh, he runs the collaborative design studio N&MS. He has received numerous distinctions, including the Prix Espoir at the Chaumont Graphic Design Biennial and the Grafia Tapani Aartomaa Prize at the Lahti Poster Triennial in Finland.
