Alexander Wertheim at Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro

German artist Alexander Wertheim (b. 1995) presents his first institutional exhibition in Mexico, October 2025, at the Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, in collaboration with Saenger Galería. The show opens on October 31, 2025, and will remain on view through January 2026.
The exhibition brings together a new series of paintings that extend Wertheim’s ongoing exploration of abstraction, developed over the past two years during residencies in London, Spain, and Berlin. Marked by a notable material and conceptual shift, these works move away from the enamel-and-aerosol technique of his earlier practice toward acrylic applied by brush, introducing a more tactile and reflective quality to his compositions.
Through this transition, Wertheim deepens his dialogue between control and spontaneity, form and dissolution, granting his abstract language a renewed emotional resonance and structural clarity.
This exhibition follows his recent solo show Empordà Paintings at our space in Barcelona Sèneca, where the colors, layered like glazes, evoke the clear Mediterranean light and the gentle rhythm of the Empordà landscape. Without ever representing it literally, the works hint at the resonance of this environment: the luminous summer air, the stillness broken by the wind, and the cadence of the days.
