About

Lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.

Marina Arias’s artistic practice draws inspiration from the place where she grew up: the Argentine city of Salta, nestled in the mountains at the foot of the Andes. Growing up there, the artist developed a deep connection with the Atacama Puna, a high-altitude plateau located 4,500 meters above sea level. These landscapes, with their raw energy and austere nature, reflect the purest essence of the natural world, which she interprets through her art. The arid soils, volcanic rocks, and ethereal landscapes have been a constant source of inspiration and have also influenced the color palette in her works. Her practice ranges from abstract landscapes to compositions that explore the structures and forms of minerals, volcanic stones, and other geological elements. Through her work, she proposes an emotional experience that invites reflection on the fragility and essential beauty of our planet.

In addition to her focus on nature, Marina’s background in interior and furniture design has given her a unique perspective in approaching art. Her understanding of the interaction between space and perception allows her to create pieces that not only have visual impact but also invite emotional contemplation. In 2022, Marina moved to Barcelona, where she has continued to deepen her artistic research, inspired by the contrast between natural landscapes and the urban environment around her. Her work has been featured in fairs such as SWAB (Barcelona) and EGGO (Buenos Aires). She has also exhibited at Alzueta Gallery (Barcelona), Amélie Du Chalard Gallery (New York and Paris), and Al Norte Gallery (Salta, Argentina).
