Lídia Masllorens’ artistic practice focuses on close-up portraits, predominantly of women, whose expressive faces and penetrating gazes reveal unexplored inner worlds. Her practice originates in a lifelong fascination with portraiture and its unique ability to convey veiled expressions of subjectivity. Situated at the intersection between figuration and abstraction, her works employ subtle distortions of facial features. As Lídia Masllorens states: “An image that remains in that specific transition of creation that allows the observer to interpret the painting precisely. But one that also allows the opportunity to sense implicit realities, to recreate what you have created. In short, to dream”.

Born in Caldes de Malavella (Girona, Spain), Lídia Masllorens graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, specializing in painting, sculpture and printmaking. In year 2013, she received the Fundació Vila Casas prize, a milestone in her career that marked the beginning of her international trajectory. In recent years her works have been exhibited in art fairs such as Art Paris and KunstRAI, as well as in exhibitions at national and international galleries in France, Germany, Denmark and Japan. In observing Masllorens’ work, the viewer into a meditative contemplation that begins with a tangible point of reference but extends far beyond, into unknown inner territories.
