About

Lives and works in Valencia, Spain

Antonia Ferrer’s work exists at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and nature. Her practice is rooted in gesture, intuition, and the quiet transformation of raw materials. With a minimalist approach and a deep sensitivity to texture and light, Ferrer constructs surfaces that feel both ancient and immediate. Her process begins with matter and not with a white canvas: sand, soil, dust, pigment; she creates a textured base that acts as a living terrain. Then, she covers it with color, allowing chance and reaction to guide the final result. The outcome can’t be planned or imagined, but it is not entirely accidental either: it is a balance between control and surrender. Drawing inspiration from Eastern traditions, Mediterranean light, and the material language of artists like Antoni Tàpies, Ferrer’s compositions evoke landscapes without depicting them, simplicity without austerity. It seems like an easy exercise, but in that false and impossible ease lies the emotional and visual power of her works. Ferrer’s practice is not only a tribute to organic matter, but a reflection on the elemental, on what remains when all excess is removed.

Antonia Ferrer holds a degree in Art History from the University of Valencia (2004–2009). She was twice selected (2009 and 2010) to appear in the official Fine Art Catalogue of the Valencia City Hall (SARC), marking the beginning of a path that has steadily gained momentum. In recent years, her career has expanded internationally, with exhibitions in Barcelona, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, London and Paris.
