back to newsOur gallery is proud to present in light of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend and in collaboration with Abe Barcelona and GAC «YEE YEE«, a Solo Show by Swiss artist Gabrielle Graessle at our Main Barcelona Gallery and the formal presentation of the artist’s powerful oeuvre to our collectors and art lovers.
Gabrielle is a Swiss artist whose passion for art and color developed from a very early age. Through a long and productive career, the artist has built for herself a unique style recognizable for her colorful strokes and the fantastic and evocative themes she portrays. From oniric scenarios of animals falling in love, to bold cowboys and western themes, the artist’s subject matter is one of the strongest particularities of her work. In this solo exhibition at our main gallery in Barcelona at Seneca Street, the artist created original works that highlight her surreal and unusual approach to art.
In the exhibition, Graessle explored her signature themes in small and big size formats. For the small works the artist worked exclusively on paper and for the big format paintings, she used a wide range of materials that go from oil and acrylic to glitter on canvas.

Ever since Gabrielle Graessle was born in Zurich, 1956, she has been fascinated by colours. She had the chance to expand her creativity and knowledge in the Zurich Art School, where she completed a degree in graphic design, having her first Solo Exhibition while she was still studying.
During this time she made mainly black and white charcoal drawings in which she spontaneously depicted her personal imagery. For 15 years she was represented in various galleries in Switzerland, and many of her charcoal drawings are part of private and public collections. At the beginning of 2000, she and her partner emigrated to France and later to Spain. Since 2015, she has settled down in Andalusia, and decided to immerse herself completely in her imaginary world again and to express herself in large format, coloured, intuitive and figurative paintings.
Her studio is located in an old group of houses out in nowhere-land. There is no distraction and she is concentrated completely on her work, secluded in nature, 3 km from the seaside. This disconnection to our everyday life makes the artist’s work very honest and raw to herself, and the connection to nature and its importance is evident in the work by the artist.
Working in several canvases at the same time, creating a series of paintings measuring each 180 x 260 cm the artist makes an interesting manifesto that works like an voyeuristic invitation into the artist mind and his creative process.

Everything forms, enters into my drawings and paintings: animals, nature, fashion, films, books, also feelings, music, images from childhood up to now, without restrictions.
I love large paintings, I like to be surrounded by my imagery, to Immerse completely in my world of images.I work normally on 4-6 paintings at the same time and switch between drawings and paintings, which frees me again and again and also leads to new topics… I
draw and paint without thinking, pin the drawings on the wall and don’t look at them.
The drawings are not looking for a result.I hate routine and I always listen to music when I work, I turn the music on and then I let it happen.»enjoy yourself … let yourself be carried on the clouds and feel your inner child playing …»
