Manolo Ballesteros’ Solo Exhibition at the University of Barcelona
back to newsManolo Ballesteros is a well known Spanish artist that works with pure color and geometric shapes. His Mixed Media artworks, made in different materials like wood, acrylic, enamel and steel show the artist’s passion for the Color Field technique which is a style of abstract painting that emerged in New York City during the 1940s and 1950s.
Ballesteros’ artworks are and ode to color as well as the exploration of the limits between painting and sculpture. His paintings, mostly three dimensional and with different lines and layers, play with our perception of looking to Art only head-on.
The Spanish artist likes to go further and include us in the process of admiring the painting from a 180º perspective, acknowledging the multiple volumes, lines and shapes that vary in our perspective as viewers.
Minimal, but yet powerful, Ballesteros’ artworks are an ode to elegance and simplicity in art. Discover his latest works for his solo exhibition at the University of Barcelona.
