Alzueta Gallery has always had a very defined objective regarding its commitment to contemporary art, and that has been to show and promote the talent of our times. To give visibility to contemporary artists and provide them with a platform through which to exhibit their projects and help them in their professional development.

That is why we are pleased to announce the launching of the Alzueta Gallery Artists Residency, an artist-in-residence program that seeks to promote and give relevance to current national and international talent.

Alzueta Gallery Artists Residency is conceived as a meeting point, exchange and promotion of the arts. A space for creativity and development, which aims to give a boost to the career of the artists who are part of the programme, and where to explore their capacities, interact with peers, and foster the development of the professional practice.

Starting this year, we are initiating an artist residency programme in the Empordà, a unique countryside setting near the Costa Brava, right next to our gallery, Palau de Casavells.

Each year six artists will have access to the programme, national and international: three will be chosen by invitation and the other ones by competition.

We want to bring our exhibition project closer to artists from the 5 continents, we want them to be able to exchange experiences and projects with our current artists, we want to help produce and create the art of our time.

During their stay, the artist will have access to a 500m2 industrial building that will become their temporary studio while in residence, and a house near their workspace. Contacts with collectors and studio visits will complete the program of activities in our residency.

We hope that the Alzueta Gallery – Artists Residency program will be one of the elements of articulation of our gallery in the international contemporary art scene, and will contribute to the development and growth of the art of our times.
