Following the success of Marria Pratts’ Solo Presentation at our gallery last year, we are pleased to announce the artist’s new Solo Exhibition at our Main Gallery at Seneca Street. The show will follow the line of work developed by the artist for the current group exhibition «Notes for an Eye Fire» at the MACBA museum in Barcelona, curated by Hiuwan Chu and Latitudes, in the first exhibition of a new series of transdisciplinary projects titled “Panorama”.
This show presents a new series of never-before-seen paintings and drawings with her known repertoire of ghosts, hands, faces and clocks, on a bright and optimistic colour palette. Depicting emerge as representatives of encounters from her meanderings through the city. Entering her L’Hospitalet home and studio is like stepping into one of her paintings. She takes inspiration from her immediate surroundings: the streets, the people who inhabit them and her close circle of friends and regular collaborators, including photographers, designers and musicians. Her work can be read as a defiance of our social structures, the contradictions that permeate the urban landscape and the challenges of living in places under the constant threat of gentrification.
