About
UK, 1978
Dom Gray’s recent body of work comprises of non-representational painting on canvas. Through a painting practice Gray permeates the work with subjective readings as he explores concepts of minimal abstraction and assimilation.
Central to the work is the resolute reduction of the palette, chosen to determine a focus on colour histories and an abandonment of an obvious narrative.
Applying paint to reveal surfaces results in unfinished edges for us to escape into.
What may at first glance appear bold and unyielding is actually on closer inspection imbued with fragilities.
